BAIL PROCESS

HOW THE BAIL BOND PROCESS WORKS

When a defendant is arrested, the next step is the booking process. During this time, a bail amount is set by the courts. The amount required for an individual's bail bond depends on the severity of the crime, as well as their personal history within the system.

Gaining the necessary funds

Once you've decided to enlist a bail bond professional, you'll submit an application for payment assistance. Should your request be granted and the agency chooses to provide the total percentage of the bail amount, the agency then contacts the court and posts the bail. Your loved one will then be released from custody.

The bail bond agency will be paying the fine on the defendant's behalf and will therefore be responsible for the fee should the defendant fail to make required court appearances.

What you'll need

In order to begin the bail bond process, you'll need the following information:

  • Name and date of birth of defendant
  • Name of jail, including city and state
  • List of charges
  • Total amount of bail needed
  • Method by which you'll pay the bond
